As the CMO of PXG, I’ve learned that success requires far more than hard work when in a male-dominated industry. Beyond the existing trials and tribulations that come with developing your career, women must work smart, advocate for themselves, and continuously evolve. In honor of March being International Women’s Month, here are four pieces of advice that are key to professional growth as a woman:

1. Advocate for Yourself Like a Pro

Early in my career, I underestimated the power of negotiation. I assumed my work would speak for itself, but the truth is, you don’t get what you don’t ask for. Before any negotiation – whether for a salary increase, marketing pitch, or resources – do your homework. Most importantly, walk into the conversation with confidence (even if you’re faking it at first). The more you do it, the more natural it becomes.

2. Build Your Visibility & Personal Brand

Online, ensure your LinkedIn and thought leadership content reflect the professional you want to be known as. While online standards for individuals have fluctuated given the growth of social media, be mindful of your digital footprint. In person, make your presence felt – speak up in meetings, and own your ideas. Demonstrate your expertise and let people see the value you bring. That being said, remain open to constructive criticism and be willing to learn.

3. Work-Life Balance Without Guilt

Women often juggle multiple responsibilities at work and home, which can lead to burnout. The key? Set clear routines with boundaries. Block out time for yourself, delegate tasks, and challenge yourself to say no when needed. A strong support system – whether family, colleagues, or mentors can make all the difference. Remember, balance isn’t about perfection; it’s about honesty with yourself, those around you, and prioritization. Do more of what makes you feel good, and be efficient with your working hours.

4. Stay Ahead with Continuous Learning

Invest in your development – whether it’s through leadership training, new technologies, or expanding your team. Ensure your knowledge is applied in your work with others. Additionally, surround yourself with characters / personalities that reflect the ambition you desire for yourself whenever possible.

I implore you to take control of your career with boldness and intention. Advocate for yourself, build your brand, and never stop learning. To the women reading this that don’t have a female mentor, know I’m here cheering you on.
