This Thanksgiving was extra special as it coincided with Bob’s 75th birthday! This holiday is always my favorite and this year made more special by the celebration of a milestone birthday for Bob. We toasted the birthday boy with heartfelt wishes around the table and gave thanks for all things this year and always.

I am a traditionalist when it comes to holidays, and the Thanksgiving menu epitomizes that feeling. All of the tried-and-true dishes are served along with a bourbon-soaked honey ham, a nod to a fond memory of Bob’s from his time in Vietnam. IYKYK. Dessert caps it off, with the requisite holiday favorites, pumpkin pie with REAL whipped cream (my fave!), Apple pie a la mode, and pecan pie. With the bonus of Bob’s birthday, we celebrated with not one but TWO cakes. He loved it!

The holiday was followed by a festive birthday celebration for Bob at Scottsdale National Golf Club. Bob arrived in his Marine Corps “Dress Blues” (a surprise birthday gift from me). It was a moment that felt both proud and poignant. Service members in attendance wore their uniforms as well, creating a powerful tribute.

The room was draped in black and white sheer banners featuring photos of Bob through the years, with a separate party tent for dancing, a DJ, and another surprise, a lively and impactful performance by The Sainted Trap Choir. If you haven’t heard of them, you must check them out! They BROUGHT DOWN THE HOUSE. Such a fun and energetic group! The encore was an amazing and touching rendition of “Purple Rain”, a tribute to Bob, getting the audience in on it, with their iPhone flashlights. The love in the room was incredible.

five-tier cake, alternating between vertical stripes and golf-ball textured fondant, topped with an edible grenade / sparkler combo, marked the occasion before we danced the night away.

Now, we look forward to hosting Christmas Eve at home – a cozy evening with family. New Year’s Eve will be a lively celebration with friends and family at SNGC to welcome 2026 in style.

Happy holidays to all – here’s to a season of joy, gratitude, and unforgettable moments.
