October in Arizona is a season of clear skies and perfect mornings – and on October 16th, it was the ideal backdrop for the first-ever Birdies, Bubbles & Brunch at Grass Clippings Rolling Hills in Tempe. The event brought together community, golf, and giving in a way that felt both natural and inspiring. As the presenting sponsor, PXG was proud to partner with First Tee Phoenix to bring this vision to life.

The day began with the opening of the Health & Wellness Lounge and the start of the leveled golf clinics – both designed to bring people together in an approachable, supportive setting. Guests moved easily between the two, enjoying fresh air, light bites, and a glass of champagne along the way. The PXG Apparel pop-up shop added to the experience, giving guests a chance to browse and shop, while PXG clubs were available for hands-on instruction and mini-lessons. It created an environment that felt open, encouraging, and inclusive for golfers at every level.

As the morning came together, we gathered under the tent overlooking the course for brunch. I was surrounded by my mom, Marilyn, my sisters Kristin, Alicia, and Meg, along with our incredible PXG and Foundation teams, and LPGA Tour player Mina Harigae, whose presence and poise are always an inspiration.

Erin McDonough, CEO and Executive Director of First Tee Phoenix, opened the program with heartfelt remarks about the impact this organization has on young people and their families. I followed her on stage and shared a few thoughts about the importance of women in golf, the confidence that comes from feeling good in what you wear, and the shared mission between PXG and First Tee Phoenix to make the game more inclusive and accessible for all.

One of the highlights of the morning was the PXG Apparel Fashion Show. Sixteen models – all First Tee Phoenix members, coaches, or moms – walked the runway with confidence, showcasing our latest collection. As each woman was introduced, we learned a bit about her connection to First Tee and the role golf has played in her life. It was more than a fashion moment; it was a celebration of community, individuality, and confidence.

The program also included a moving story from Arturo Macias, who shared how his mother enrolled him in First Tee Phoenix after the loss of his father. Through the program, he found mentorship, friendship, and a sense of belonging – along with the life skills that golf teaches so well: respect, patience, and perseverance. His story was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact First Tee Phoenix has on young people and their families.

First Tee Phoenix offers access to golf lessons, equipment, and opportunities to play at local courses and tournaments – all at a fraction of the real cost. It takes about $2,000 to support one child through the full First Tee experience, yet families pay less than $200, with additional assistance available for those who need it. The program is built on a simple belief: that golf, and the values it teaches, should be available to everyone, no matter their background or circumstances.

The event closed with a paddle raise that brought incredible generosity from the crowd, with donations ranging from $100 to $5,000 – all in support of First Tee Phoenix. The enthusiasm in the room was genuine, and it was clear this first-of-its-kind event sparked real momentum for what’s to come.

As I think back on the day, I’m simply grateful. Working with First Tee Phoenix through The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, my role on the First Tee National Board of Governors, and PXG’s partnership has been incredibly meaningful. Our goals align naturally – to bring more women and underrepresented groups into the game and make golf more inclusive and accessible. It’s work I’m proud to be part of.
