Bob Receives Headstrong Moral Courage Award – December 2024
I don’t know about you, but it feels like this fall season has been a whirlwind. For me, that looks like a lot of social gatherings, travel, activity across our businesses, and of course, some golf – not to mention life’s little curveballs that show up for all of us along the way. I’d like to take this post as an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and perhaps most importantly shine a light on and congratulate my one-of-a-kind husband on a recent honor he received from The Headstrong Project.
The Headstrong Project is a nonprofit mental health organization that provides confidential, barrier-free, and stigma-free PTSD treatment to our nation’s veterans, service members, and family members connected to their care. Headstrong was founded on the belief that it is possible to “triumph over trauma” with the proper tools and support. Since 2012, they’ve delivered over 200,000 clinical sessions to thousands of veterans across the country.
Last month, Headstrong designated Bob as recipient of the Moral Courage Award, presented by General Jim Mattis the 26th Secretary of Defense, at their Annual Gala in New York City. Moral courage is defined by Headstrong as doing what is right for the greater good, even if it is unpopular, complicated, or has personal consequences. Headstrong felt that Bob deserved this award in particular because of his uncommon willingness to be open about his challenges with PTSD shown through his longtime support of veterans and active-duty military members, their healing, and the vulnerable retelling of his life’s story in his recently released book, Fire in the Hole! I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Headstrong for recognizing this strength in Bob, which I feel so lucky to witness in my daily life.
Check out some memorable moments from the event below…

Congratulations to you, Bob – my partner, my best friend, and my United States Marine – on this well-deserved award and recognition of the wonderful human you are. And thank you to The Headstrong Project, for your incredible dedication to helping our nation’s finest heal from the invisible wounds of war.
For those veterans who may be struggling with your mental health or know someone who is, you are not alone. There are resources available, including Headstrong – it is ok to ask for help.
If you’re looking for a way to support veterans in your community this holiday season, I welcome you to consider supporting Headstrong in providing no-cost mental health services to military members in need. Also, #ICYMI our annual matching campaign benefitting another great veteran-serving organization–Semper Fi & America’s Fund–is officially on for the 13th consecutive year! Check out this year’s Double Down for Veterans campaign, with support from PXG and The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, here.
Xx
