Boys & Girls Club of the Valley Introduces Groundbreaking New Program

Boys & Girls Club of the Valley introduces "Whole Child Approach" program, providing free, behavior health services to kids directly in the clubs.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley is a long-time partner of our Foundation, as they’re a local leader in high-quality, affordable after-school programs. Bob and I didn’t hesitate when presented with the opportunity to support their newly launched “Whole Child Approach” program, which provides free behavioral health services to kids directly in the Clubs, in a setting that feels both safe and familiar. This is a groundbreaking pilot program, through Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley in partnership with Terros Health, that aims to address the mental health needs of local youth. The program also incorporates art therapy, mindfulness activities and other strategies into everyday activities to teach kids how to manage their emotions and to reduce stigma around mental health.

Sadly, mental health challenges like depression and anxiety are on the rise, particularly among our youth. It can be difficult for anyone to find mental health support when they need it, and it can feel nearly impossible when faced with added barriers like transportation, insurance, homelessness, or poverty– which many of our local youth do.

This program is made even more special by the incredible turnout of local support from both public and private parties. We are so pleased to support this innovative public-private partnership to meet youth where they are with critically needed services. Learn more here.
