Honoring Service and Sacrifice – May 2026

Over the years, I’ve seen how deeply the phrase “Welcome Home” resonates with Bob and with so many veterans of that generation. They are simple words, but for many, they carry decades of meaning.

Earlier this spring, I had the privilege of watching Bob receive the Semper Fidelis Award from the Marine Corps University Foundation, a recognition that carried deep meaning not only for Bob, but for so many gathered in the room that evening.

Receiving this honor just ahead of Vietnam War Veterans Day gave the moment even more gravity. Like so many Vietnam veterans, Bob came home to a country that did not always fully recognize the sacrifice, service, and lasting impact carried by those who served.

Over the years, I’ve seen how deeply the phrase “Welcome Home” resonates with him and with so many veterans of that generation. They are simple words, but for many, they carry decades of meaning.

What made the evening especially powerful was seeing Bob accept the award not for himself alone, but in honor of the American men and women who served in Vietnam, including the more than 58,000 who never made it home.

Service, loyalty, and commitment to others have always guided the way Bob lives his life. They are values that continue to shape the work we do, the communities we support, and the people we hope to serve through our philanthropy.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate surrounded by family, close friends, and the men who served alongside Bob in Vietnam.

I couldn’t have been more proud to stand by his side for this special recognition.

And to all Vietnam War veterans: Welcome Home.
