March 2023 Recap

Taking a look back at the fun events in March!

March was a busy month full of connection and celebration, which feels entirely appropriate for the onset of spring in Arizona! It’s a time when the weather is nearly perfect, energy is high, and events are happening at every turn.

Bob & I with the inspiring Boys & Girls Club of the Valley Youths of the Year

We kicked things off in March with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley “Today’s Kids, Tomorrow’s Stars” event. The event spotlighted 11 “Youths of the Year” — outstanding teens from across Valley Clubs who are not only exemplary in character and academic achievement, but also in strength, bravery, and perseverance through incredible difficulty. Their journeys are an unforgettable testament to how anyone can achieve their dreams with the right support – in this case, support from Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley. I was moved by our fellow community members’ generosity, raising a total of $4.5 million for the clubs. These funds will provide families with affordable after-school care and summer camps for their kids, continue the invaluable efforts of the Whole Child Approach program, and so much more.

Celebrating the 2023 Outstanding Women in Business Award with some of the wonderful women in my life

Next up…I am honored and humbled to have been selected as one of the Phoenix Business Journal’s 2023 Outstanding Women in Business, both for my role at PXG Apparel, and for the past decade of philanthropic work through The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation (learn more). It was such a treat to attend the award dinner with family, friends, and colleagues.  There were lots of laughs had throughout the night and my fellow honorees had wonderful advice and career insights to share. Perhaps my favorite part of the event was seeing so many women from the nonprofit sector among the honorees, including past and present partners of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. Women are truly rockstars, and it is a privilege to be included in this select group of changemakers, movers, and shakers in the community!

And finally, we finished out the month with one of my most favorite annual events, Wish Ball! I must take a moment for this year’s theme – “Dare to Wish Bold.” The décor and dress were electrically fabulous, with bright colors as far as the eye could see, disco balls, neon lights, and dreamy photo ops. This backdrop perfectly set the stage for the reason we gathered, to raise funds ($4.6 million to be exact) to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses in Arizona. A wish is so much more than a vacation or meeting a celebrity. A wish is hope for a child and their family, it gives them something to look forward to, a moment of respite, and makes an impact that will last a lifetime. Bob and I are forever proud to support Make-A-Wish Arizona’s mission.

Cheers to a fabulous month of community and philanthropy. Onto the next!
