More Than a Donation – August 2026

Sometimes, generosity is simply recognizing that something you already have can become exactly what someone else needs.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned over the years is that making a lasting difference doesn’t always require a grand gesture.

Recently, I was reminded of that in a simple but meaningful way.

Scottsdale National Golf Club, one of the businesses Bob and I are fortunate to lead, recently updated the guest amenities offered throughout the property. Rather than let the remaining toiletries go unused, the team looked for a way to put them to good use. Through a new connection with UMOM New Day Centers, those items found a new purpose supporting families experiencing homelessness. That first donation led to another when Scottsdale National later donated extra linens to UMOM, helping provide a little extra comfort to families working toward stable housing.

There were no speeches or ceremonies. Just one organization sharing what it had and another putting those items to good use.

I love what this simple partnership represents.

At The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, we’re fortunate to support nonprofits through monetary grants that help them expand their impact. But meaningful change isn’t always measured in dollars. Sometimes it’s found in a box of toiletries, a stack of fresh linens, or a thoughtful connection between two organizations.

One of my favorite reminders from this experience is that you don’t have to run a foundation to make a meaningful difference.

Sometimes, generosity is simply recognizing that something you already have can become exactly what someone else needs.

Those small acts of kindness have a way of creating something much bigger. They build relationships. They strengthen communities. And they remind us that we all have something to give.

That’s a lesson worth celebrating.
