Philanthropy Focus – Team Rubicon + PXG Maui Wildfire Relief
If you follow along on my social media, you know Hawaii holds a special place in my heart. For Bob and I, it is our home away from home – a cluster of beautiful islands with breathtaking scenery that has been the backdrop to some of our fondest memories. When news broke in early August that wildfires were devastating the town of Lahaina on Maui, Bob and I knew we had to step up for Hawaii, a place that has given us so much.
Luckily, we were already connected with the veteran-led humanitarian organization, Team Rubicon, as a result of past partnerships through The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation and PXG. In response to natural disasters, Team Rubicon is quick to coordinate and deploy trained military veterans, first responders, and everyday people as volunteers who embrace and empower communities in need. The organization has had a long-standing connection and presence on the islands, having supported various communities with fire mitigation and storm response, and, over the past 10 years, building a dedicated team of 1,000 Greyshirt volunteer leaders in Hawaii.
It was an easy decision to partner with Team Rubicon once again by donating $1 million to support disaster relief efforts on Maui through PXG. Over the past month, Team Rubicon has been working closely on various projects, including fire mitigation across the four major islands, management of donated goods and logistics, and coordination with the Environmental Protection Agency to begin clearing debris and work toward long-term recovery. Thank you, Team Rubicon, for your partnership.
To the resilient and brave people of Maui and its surrounding islands, our hearts are with you as you recover, rebuild, and continue to heal.
