Renee’s Vacation Packing Tips + Tricks

A bit of preparation goes a long way when it comes to travel. As my summer trips commence, I’m excited to share my tips and tricks for vacation packing. Let’s dive in!
Pre-selected Outfits
The key to packing everything you need without overpacking is to plan your outfits in advance. Start by researching your key activities and the weather forecast for your destination(s). Then, lay out your statement pieces and select versatile bottoms, shoes, and accessories that can complete multiple outfits. Try on each outfit to ensure it looks as you imagined and to identify the proper undergarments to pack.
Note: Having an itinerary with tours and reservations makes this process much more efficient.
“Emergency” Stash
The one category where it’s okay to overpack is your “emergency” stash. In addition to daily medicines and ibuprofen, don’t forget to pack less common medicines and first-aid items such as Band-Aids, vitamin C, safety pins, and cold medicine. Traveling takes a toll on our bodies – we’re more active, switching time zones, and surrounded by crowds we may not typically encounter at home, so it’s essential to be prepared.
Labeled Packing Cubes
To alleviate stress while traveling, incorporate packing cubes into your luggage. This will keep your clothes organized, reduce wrinkles, and make finding items more efficient. Labeling each cube with its contents is a game-changer.
Prep for the Plane
Finally, make the physical act of traveling as comfortable as possible. Bring designated plane slippers, pre-download movies and work, and pack a home-cooked meal. Trust me, it makes a world of difference.
