Semper Fi & America’s Fund 20th Anniversary Celebration – Camp Pendleton – May 2024

A celebration of what is possible when the spark of an idea, combined with passion and the purest of intentions, grows into something so much greater – something unstoppable.

Since 2004, Semper Fi & America’s Fund has provided support to over 33,000 service members, veterans, and military families. Bob and I are over the moon that we were able to celebrate The Fund’s 20th Anniversary on May 2 alongside the organization’s leadership, supporters, and distinguished beneficiaries, many of whom have faced indescribable hardship and shown the most incredible resilience and perseverance with the help of The Fund.

The event kicked off at Camp Pendleton’s Historic Ranch House with festive details fitting of The Fund – a Fund family welcome by the mounted color guard and Marine Band, a rustic whiskey tasting bar, that national anthem sung by the Patriotic Bombshells, fun photo-op moments, and last but most certainly not least, a book station for Bob’s literary debut “Fire in the Hole!”

This event was truly a celebration of what is possible when the spark of an idea, combined with passion and the purest of intentions, grows into something so much greater – something unstoppable. Started by a group of military spouses around a kitchen table (true story), who saw firsthand the challenges faced by wounded Marines and Sailors as they returned from Iraq, Semper Fi & America’s Fund began by supporting those service members and their families with small kindnesses – airfare, care packages, activities in the hospital. Today, The Fund’s mission has greatly expanded to address the holistic needs of critically ill, and catastrophically injured service members and their families across all branches of the military with a unique care model that provides a lifetime of support. When you become a part of The Fund, you become a part of a family.

Words cannot describe how proud Bob and I are to have been a part of The Fund family over the past 12 years. The Fund honored us at this event for our long-time support of the organization, but really, it has been our absolute privilege to be a part of the Fund’s journey – I get emotional thinking about how critical their work is, how transformative and lifesaving for so many. Bob and I have our own story as it relates to the invisible wounds of war, most notably the long-fought battle with PTSD. We now understand how debilitating the effects are not only for the individual suffering, but also for their spouse, family, friends, and beyond. After a great deal of work toward his own healing, Bob finally came home from the Vietnam War after 50 years of suffering. The Fund is determined to bring every service member home, and Bob and I are here to do whatever we can to help them reach that goal.

We so appreciate this honor and recognition and would like to extend a huge “thank you” to every person who contributes to the success of Semper Fi & America’s Fund’s mission.

To the entire Fund Family – thank you for your bravery, your passion, and your perseverance to best serve those who preserve our freedom. We’re with you – Today. Tomorrow. Together.
