Supporting Military Families – October 2024

Over 40% of our annual giving is directed to organizations serving veterans, active-duty military, and military families.

As many of you know, Bob and I are incredibly passionate about supporting veterans, active-duty military members, and military families. Bob attributes so much of his success in life to his service in the Marine Corps. You can often catch him saying, “As long as I’ve got a dime, they’ve got a nickel” when referring to his commitment to supporting our nation’s finest. I’m so proud to say that over 40% of our annual giving through The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation  is directed to organizations serving veterans, active-duty military, and military families in one capacity or another.

beneficiaries of their services.

You might be familiar with our longtime partnership (12 years and counting!) with Semper Fi & America’s Fund, an organization that aids combat-wounded, critically ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families across all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. A partnership you may be less familiar with, but is also near and dear to my heart, is with the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) Camp Pendleton

For the second year in a row, we’ve partnered with ASYMCA Camp Pendleton to provide childcare subsidies to service members and their families living on base. It may come as a surprise, but many military families living on base struggle to find high quality childcare that is accessible, affordable and suits their needs. This funding will help provide vouchers for up to 12-months to help Marines, Sailors and their families partially cover the cost of childcare at licensed facilities or with vetted in-home care providers. It will also help alleviate the 148-child waitlist at Fisher Children’s Center, a childcare center located on base at Camp Pendleton.

Bob and I recognize and deeply respect the many sacrifices military families make in service to this country. The intent of this gift is to remove barriers to childcare for these families and give them peace of mind while they’re at work. It is also so important to me, personally, that military spouses have career options that aren’t otherwise constrained simply due to a lack of childcare. Our hope is that this relationship helps military families thrive, above all else.
