As someone who enjoys digging into the latest in wellness, I’m always exploring what’s new and what’s effective. Over five years ago, I came across NAD+ and became an early adopter of what’s now a fast-growing trend. Spoiler alert: for me, it’s lived up to the hype!

If you’re unfamiliar, NAD+ (short for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell. It plays a critical role in cellular energy, mitochondrial function, DNA repair, and even aging. Science aside, I’ll put it simply: NAD helps your body work better. Think clearer brain, more energy, and a cellular “reset” when you’re feeling off.

A little while after starting NAD, I was introduced to NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) – a supplement I now take daily. NMN is a precursor to NAD+, meaning it helps your body produce more of it naturally. While NAD gives me a noticeable, immediate lift, NMN offers a more consistent sense of support – especially in terms of energy, mental clarity, and recovery. Over time, NMN has become just as essential in my routine as NAD, and in some ways, even more valuable.

My NAD journey began with IV therapy, which delivers a high dose over 60-90 minutes. The results were real, but the sessions would occasionally weigh me down while in progress. My nurse suggested switching to subcutaneous injections for years, but I hesitated – I was nervous it would feel even more intense or uncomfortable. Eventually, I gave it a try, and it completely changed the game! The subcutaneous shots are quick, convenient, and surprisingly easier to tolerate. You may feel a bit off at first, but that fades within 15 minutes. I’ve experimented with dosing up to twice a week at one point, but found that once a week works best for me. Like most things in wellness, it comes down to finding what suits your body best.

Five years in, NAD and NMN remain foundational pieces of my wellness practice. The combination of immediate and sustained benefits has helped me feel sharper, stronger, and more balanced day to day. I’m so glad I stuck with it – and even more glad I took the leap to try something new.
